Project Description
During the organization of Africa Football Championships (CUP) in Gabon the Presidency of Gabon decided to enhance significantly the security of its capital – Libreville, by a sophisticated “Safe City” system.
International firm Falcon Eye Ltd. which managed the overall security implementation in Gabon appointed J. Gordon Consulting Engineers Ltd. to design the required systems and supervise all the activities for its successive operation.
Gordon Engineers’ experts conducted, in the city, an extensive communications survey city to determine the location of radio transmitters and relays in order to achieve optimal wireless coverage. An additional survey was conducted, in coordination with the municipality. to validate the availability of power sources and fiber optic cables
Based on the collected data a system of hundreds of CCTV cameras was designed and installed in the city, connected, via a wireless communication network and fiber optic cables. to a municipal control center designed by us and set up specifically for this purpose.
The “Safe City” system includes extensive CCTV coverage of sensitive locations in the city such as public institutions, main roads, and junctions. Video images are transmitted continuously, over a dedicated WAN radio and fiber optic backbone network to the Command & Control Center established especially for this system
Following the completion of the design, Gordon Engineers provided close supervision over the implementation of the system until its successful hand-over to the Client.
